Lifting Gear Products design, manufacture, repair and supply lifting and mechanical handling equipment to a range of sectors, supporting organisations with the very best lifting and handling equipment available in the market.
Load Testing
We offer both in house and onsite load testing services. In house we have two 130-tonne tensile test beds allowing for precise, controlled testing of products and items to various specifications and standards (dependant on our clients request). In addition, we provide flexible onsite load testing services supported by our fleet of 150 tonne individual calibrated test weights of various sizes and weights.
LOLER & In-Use Inspection Services
Lifting Gear Products and sister division Dale & Co offer LOLER periodic thorough examinations and in-use inspections by qualified engineers, as required by the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER).
We conduct in-use inspections as part of on-site maintenance contracts, acting as the ‘Responsible Person’ with the expertise to identify defects.
For LOLER thorough examinations, equipment is typically brought to our workshop, where we serve as an independent ‘Competent Person’ to ensure compliance with LOLER, PUWER, and Health and Safety Executive standards. This role excludes equipment we maintain. Thorough examinations may involve proof-load, operational, or nondestructive testing.
A One-Stop Service
We provide overhead crane systems and gantries, handling systems, lifting beams, and spreaders. Special grabs and load attachments are conceived using computer-aided design and manufactured in accordance with the Machinery Safety Directive and international requirements using the relevant materials and welding procedures. Alternatively, designs can be made to customers’ own specifications.
All handling systems are designed to accommodate site conditions and where required, full site surveys can be carried out.

These strategic distribution partnerships ensure access to high-quality, reliable products that meet the highest safety and performance standards, enabling Lifting Gear Products to deliver trusted solutions to customers across a wide range of industries.
Design & Engineering Services
Our design and engineering teams are on hand to provide bespoke lifting and handling systems. We work in close partnership with global brands to deliver bespoke solutions – including manipulators, load balancers, hoist units, power feeds and lifting devices. We can also provide a full erection and proof load testing service.
Total Solutions
Overhead cranes, swing jib cranes and lifting davits are provided from standard comprehensive ranges that cope with most applications easily. For special requirements that are out of the ordinary, design and manufacture of a floor or column-mounted jibs can be provided to fit the site conditions exactly; light or heavy duty, manual or power slewing, complete with power feed.
Lifting Equipment Repair
We offer a complete repair and refurbishment service on all lifting equipment as well both fixed and unfixed plant equipment. Our skilled engineers are specialists in their fields and we provide a same day call out service, so that we can get your operations back up and running. Fast repairs on chain slings and other loose equipment can be undertaken in our workshops or onsite if required. Where necessary, your equipment will be re-tested, and all repaired lifting equipment will be returned to you with a current LOLER report of thorough examination.
Overhead Crane Breakdown Callouts
We understand that when lifting equipment breaks down, it can have a serious impact on your operations—delaying deliveries, disrupting production, and affecting your bottom line. Our emergency crane breakdown service is supported from our Sheffield and Manchester facilities, with a dedicated team of experienced engineers covering the UK. In today’s fast-paced industrial environment, we know how crucial a quick and efficient response is. Our engineers are on call, fully equipped with PPE, danger boards, hazard tape, and the right tools for every job. Each member of our team holds a Passport to Safety certificate. We’re here to get you back up and running—safely and quickly.

Above the Hook Supply - Crane Systems
Our above the hook supply, consists of overhead cranes, swing jibs, light cranes systems and tower crane solutions and services. Through both our partnerships with brands such as Donati, Stahl Crane Systems, NIKO, KITO Crosby as well as our two fabrication shops and machine shop we have the capability to provide our own bespoke product as well as branded.
